Curtain and Bow Tie Tutorial

What you will need:
Fabric
Thread
Sewing Machine
Scrissors
Pins
Measuring Tape/Ruler

First you measure your window to determine how much fabric you will need. Measure the height from about 3 inches above the window to the ground.. Then add 2 or 3 inches to that to determine how long you need to make them. Then measure your width of the window about 3/4 of the window and add 2 or 3 inches to that. Then cut two for each curtain.

Once your fabric is all measured and cut, fold the fabric on the sides over about a 1/4 of an inch, pin and sew.

Do this to both sides of the fabric and both pieces of the fabric.

Then go to the bottom of the fabric and fold it over about 3/4 an inch, pin and sew.

Then go to the top of the fabric. Depending on how big your curtain rod is fold this fabric over as well, pin and sew. Make sure the curtain rod can easily fit through the hole.

The curtains should look like this..

For my strips I cut them about 8 inches wide and 24 inches long.. Depending on how you want the bows to look is how big or small you cut the strips.

Place the right sides of the fabric together and sew around all the edges leaving about a 2 inch opening on one of the small ends.

Flip the fabric inside out.

It should look somewhat like this..

Take the open end of fabric and fold them in and pin.

Sew the opening, closed.

Then hang the curtains and tie the bows on the end.
Then your done!

  5. Her nursery is already looking so sweet! I can't wait for the full nursery tour! My little lady is due in May and we just started painting her nursery! I honestly thought about stripes but after seeing what it took....I changed my mind :) Now we are doing a meadow theme. I am hoping it turns out like I planned!
